The Governing Body is responsible for the overall management of the school. It is made up of people from various sections of the community, including parents and staff of the school. It is the responsibility of the Governing Body to:

  • agree the aims and values of the school
  • monitor and review the policies and organisation of the school
  • ensure that financial procedures are sound
  • participate in the appointment of staff
  • ensure that all decisions are made in the best interests of all the pupils of the school.

Any parent with a child in the school is eligible to stand for election as a parent governor and parents will be notified when an election is due to take place. Governors are invited to attend courses run by the Local Education Authority, which aim to help them fulfil their responsibility.

The Governing body meets each term. Governors also serve on various sub-committees set up to assist the running of the school. Once a year all parents are invited to a general meeting at which the Governors present their Annual Report.
